D Turns 3--Monster Truck Birthdaycake Birthday

After the yardsale last Saturday we went straight to the store to buy groceries to feed 40 birthday guests coming to the birthday party Sunday.

Tacos, refried beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, chips and a monster truck birthday cake with all the trimmings!!

Lacey was up till late making and decorating the monster truck cake.  I was busy making beans for the refries...

Sunday after church Abby, Lexi, and Dayton straightened the house and decorated for the party.

Lacey and I were in the kitchen preparing the food.  At 3:30 the guest began to arrive and the party started!

The 3 year old Birthday Boy

Lacey bought Davis a Home Depot 'tool center'!  Davis and Papa are so excited now because now Davis can help Papa do all of his fixings!!

Happy Birthday Dear Davis
Happy Birthday to you!!

Blow Davis Blow!!

There are two things that 3 year old Davis loves:
Monster Trucks and....
 Chocolate Milk!!
Dayton (Davis' best friend-and Lexi likes him also)
gave him the gift of Chocolate milk...cute huh!
Davis loves opening up his presents!

He is having a good Birthday!!

He had so much fun that he stayed out
playing with his trucks till dark!

And all throughout the week Davis would come to me or his mom and say, "I want to do my Monster Truck BirthdayCake again!!!"

Such a sweet little boy. We are so glad that Davis is 3!!

And we are also VERY glad that the weekend was over!!!!

Its Taken Me a Week To Recooperate

Last weekend was a doozy!!  It started out early Saturday morning doing a yard sale.
Now yard sales are next to the worst thing that I can think of to do on a Saturday.
But.....
I do them for 3 reasons:

1.  It makes me clean and organize the house and garage.
2.  It makes me get rid of junk.
3.  We make pretty good money doing it!

So bright and early we were out in the yard selling all of our junk.
I wished I had taken just a moment and took a picture or two, but I didn't so it will just have to wait until spring when we do the next one.

The day was a beautiful fall day...perfect for a yard sale.
We sold junk from 8 am to 3 pm and made $960!!

And I am glad it is done...at least until spring!!

It's The Fair

The Tulsa State Fair comes the first part of October and we generally try to go.

I remember getting out of school and going to the Utah State Fair.  It was a big day and probably the only day that we were able to skip school for recreation. We would go and see animals, exhibits, see all the canned and baked goods, prizes, ride the rides, see some funny people, and get to eat some fair food.

The fair hasn't changed much.  Although we didn't see many exhibits or animals this go around it doesn't mean they weren't there...we just didn't have enough time mainly because we didn't get out of school/work and went on a Monday evening.  But we did have a blast riding rides and eating some interesting food.  We ate so much weird, fattening food and rode some crazy rides that our bellies ached by the time we went home.  But it was all worth it.

The Food:

This is a Krispy Kreme Donut Hamburger!
YUP!! That's right a hamburger whose bun is a donut..
sounds pretty weird
but is actually kinda good.

Abby was the one that wanted to try the donut hamburger.
We walked all over the fair and finally found it
She is Happy!!!

BBQ Turkey Leg
I look like I haven't eaten in 10 years!!

We ate corn dogs, turkey legs, corn on a stick, funnel cakes, lemonades, and donut hamburgers!!  Does that sound like it would give you a tummy ache?  Then Lacey, Abby, Lexi, Dayton went riding all the rides that make you sick and Chase, Davis and I went to the kiddy section and rode rides.  By the time 10:30 pm came around we had had our fill of the fair...until next year  :)

The Warrior Dash

Okay does this sound fun?
Running uphill for 3.25 miles in the wilderness (Turkey mountain to be exact)
Climb up and across rope nets
Jumping through tires
Climbing over old wrecked cars
Climbing over logs in chest deep water
Climbing up tall wooden walls
Jumping down wooden walls
Downhill (90 degree) death run
Breath taking hurdle jumping
Back scratching crawling under barb wire
Jumping over fire
Crawling through mud
Crouching under nets
And would you pay $60 to do such?

ARE YOU KIDDING??????

Lexi, Lacey and Lexi's friend Dayton signed up to do this insane race.  Not even 24 hours later Lexi's knee went out and so Lacey invited her friend Lacey McMurry to take Lexi's place.  So Lacey M drove from Little Rock, Arkansas to take Lexi's place in this mad dash...

This is where we had to wait
for them to come

My feet while we waited...

Dayton finished first in his heat
8th in his age group (20-24 males)
 and 23th overall!
There were over 5000 entries!
He ran the course in 27 minutes and 30 seconds...
What a Papa Bear warrior!

Here come Lacey and Lacey
They are approaching the mud pit.

Here they are swimming across the mud pit.

Lacey M sliding out

Lacey exits the mud pit.

They survived!!
The Laceys completed the course in about 50 minutes...

I'm still not quite sure what the attraction is to this mad insane dash
but there were plenty of people participating...

And they all looked like they were having fun...crazy!!
