Trojan Of The Week

Several weeks ago Chase was elected to be
Trojan of the Week.
He had his picture hung in the Library at school for the week
Love this little/big boy!

and he made a poster that describes him and that was displayed in his classroom for the week.

WE ARE SO PROUD OF THE TROJAN ON THE WEEK CHASE!!

Sunday 12/18/2011

Christmas is coming.
The weather has been quite mild though
and it looks like we will not have a white Christmas.
Which is really okay with me.
Got most of the shopping done
Did it mostly online.

I've decided online is the best way to Christmas shop.

No crowded stores

No wasting gas and trying to find parking
much to say going out in the cold
(although it has been relatively warm)

And the packages come right to your front door

Aready in boxes so all you have to do is wrap them

Got it mostly done
and it feels pretty good.
Ready for the festivities to start...

Had to throw this in...Lexi would want me to  ;)

Merry Christmas in a week!!!!

Overwhelmed

This is the 2nd autumn we have lived in our home on Oswego Place.
It is overwhelming to clear our yard of the leaves that fall from our almost 100 trees.
A few Saturdays ago Lacey recruited the YSA guys to come help the family blow leaves.
It is so much easier and a goes a whole heck faster than when it's just me!!

Thank you guys!!

Dalls Carrol, Adam Zeph

Huckleberry (Dallas)

Dayton was smart.  He borrowed his father back pack blower...those things are great!!

Little goof ball

Me on my 'little green tractor'...I LOVE this thing!!!

Sistahs

Big guy

Dayton let me test the back pack blower out...
I'm SOLD!!

Beware!!  I am going to blow you down!!

Update:  This Thursday the yard needed to be blown again and of course the lot fell on me.  There was a big storm coming on Friday and the weather was to turn bitter cold. So I was bound and determined to get the yard blown off.  We owned a hand held eletrical blower and by the time I had blown the back yard it had died!  I called LaVor and he met me over at Home Depot during his lunch. We purchased a back pack blower and I was able to finish the rest of the yard by dark!
Hopefully this is the last leaf blowing session of the year...
I can only hope  :)

Be Ye Thankful

The Ten Lepers

Be ye thankful (Col. 3:15).

While Jesus Christ was walking to Jerusalem, He came to a village. As He entered the village, Jesus saw ten sad lepers. A disease called leprosy covered their bodies with sores.
They were not allowed to live with their families. They had to stay by themselves, wandering around the countryside.
“Jesus, Master, have mercy on us,” they called out (Luke 17:13).
Jesus felt sorry for the lepers. “Go,” He said, “[show] yourselves unto the priests” (Luke 17:14). The lepers knew that only the priests could decide if their disease was gone. Excited, they set off.
As they hurried along, their sores disappeared. They were healed!
One of the lepers stopped. He turned around and ran back to Jesus, loudly praising God. When he reached Jesus, he fell on his face and thanked Him. “And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? … And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.” (Luke 17:17, 19.)

During this Thanksgiving season the story of The Ten Lepers hit home. I have heard it many times but for some reason I got the true meaning from the story this year.
The one leper that stopped, turned around and went back to Jesus and thanked him was the only true healed leper.  He was healed both physically and more importantly spiritually.  The other nine felt better for sure because their bodies had no more sores and they were able to go back to their families, friends and loved ones, but how sad that they couldn't do the simple act of turning around and thanking the source of their healing. And because of this negligance they were probably worse off as if they had remained sick...

It causes me to wonder at how many times I have been like the nine instead of the one.

I am indeed so very thankful for ALL that I have.  I am blessed beyond my worthiness.  I have much that most of the world doesn't have.  My most blessed possession is my testimony of the truthfullnes of this Gospel and the Atoning Sacrifice of my Savoir, even Jesus Christ.  Next to this I am most blessed with a wonderful and loving family and many good friends.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving Feast with only one little glitch...

The spread...

Lexi gives it a thumbs up!

Dayton is learning what it is like to be part of the Haynie Clan :)
And of course the missionaries were  our guests.

Lacey's good friend, Kristen Briggs.
We invited the Briggs also to feast with us.

We were able to eat outside this year...
it was a little nippy but kinda fun.

Turkey Bowl 2011

We haven't played a Turkey Bowl for a few years.
So this year, the missionaires along with the YSA's got together and played a Turkey Bowl!!
I was the photographer and I took almost 300!! pictures!!
Don't worry I won't post them all
but you will have to brace yourself because there are quite a few.
It was a fun time and luckily no one got hurt except for a few sore muscles today!

Kick off!!
Lexi drives it down the middle to Lacey...

Lacey is in the orange,
Lexi and Abby are both in the blue.

Isn't dancing part of football????

It's kinda hard to see but Lexi is actually 'tackling' Abby.
